Ruskington: weekly Digital Hub sessions resume after the summer break

What happened

North Kesteven's standing timetable placed the first post-break Ruskington Digital Hub session on Thursday 27 August.

  • Venue: Ruskington Methodist Church, Chapel Street.
  • Sessions are free.
  • The annual summer closure ran from 3 to 23 August.

No additional meaningful update meeting the publication threshold was found. No new Ruskington MUGA completion statement or Pavilion-mural decision was published.

North Kesteven land-search service enters a four-week suspension

What happened

North Kesteven District Council suspended its CON29 Local Land Charges service on 25 August during migration to a new computer system.

Why it mattered locally

CON29 searches are used in property purchases and development work. Transactions involving land or homes in Ruskington, Cranwell, Leasingham and surrounding villages may be delayed.

  • Requests received after noon on 21 August are being retained for processing after migration.
  • NKDC's normal published CON29 response time is two to three working days.
  • LLC1 searches remain available through HM Land Registry.
  • The notice does not guarantee when the retained backlog will be cleared.
Claim or context at the time

NKDC says the migration is necessary to keep the service reliable and fit for purpose. No expected backlog size or service-impact assessment has been published.

  • Four new pylons are proposed and two existing pylons would be removed.

Grantham Road has two different published completion periods

What happened

The County Council's 24 August highways update lists the B1517 Grantham Road scheme as due to finish in late September. An older Sleaford notice describes the wider resurfacing and level-crossing programme as running to 2 September.

Why it mattered locally

Unclear dates make planning difficult for residents, businesses, bus passengers, disabled travellers and carers.

  • The countywide programme says ‘late September’.
  • The earlier Sleaford notice says 13 July–2 September.
  • The newer summary does not identify the activities continuing after 2 September.
  • No reconciled notice covering restrictions, buses and access was found.
Claim or context at the time

The later date may concern follow-up work with different traffic arrangements, but that cannot be established from the published material.

  • Short sections of Tower Lane, Heath Road, Dunston Heath Lane, Heath Lane, Metheringham Heath Lane and Green Man Road are included.

  • The draft order gives no implementation date.

Council & local government

County Council formally questions the reorganisation selection process

What happened

Lincolnshire County Council issued a Pre-Action Protocol letter seeking clarification from the Secretary of State about the assessment of competing reorganisation proposals and consultation responses.

Why it mattered locally

The selected model will determine which new authority serves Ruskington, Cranwell, Leasingham and surrounding settlements, and how the May 2027 shadow election is organised.

  • A Pre-Action Protocol letter has been issued.
  • It precedes any decision about litigation and is not itself a judicial-review claim.
  • Council leader Cllr Sean Matthews said no decision to pursue judicial review had been taken.
  • The County Council says implementation preparations are continuing.
  • The timetable still anticipates shadow elections in May 2027 and new councils taking over on 1 April 2028.
  • No Government response or published copy of the letter was found by 28 August.
Claim or context at the time

Concerns about the Government's assessment are the County Council's position. No legal finding or delay to the election timetable has been established.

Health & NHS

Seven in ten eligible Lincolnshire residents have registered for the NHS App

What happened

NHS Lincolnshire reported that 515,626 people aged 13 and over and registered with Lincolnshire GP practices have signed up to the NHS App.

Why it mattered locally

The app provides access to prescriptions, appointments, test results and health documents. Effective alternatives remain important for residents without suitable devices, connectivity or digital confidence.

  • Reported registration rate: 71%.
  • In the latest GP patient survey, 53% of Lincolnshire respondents found the app easy to use when contacting their practice, compared with 45% in 2024.
  • One community project introduced 530 people to the app; 138 subsequently downloaded and used it.
  • District-level and demographic uptake figures were not supplied.
Claim or context at the time

Registration does not prove regular use, improved outcomes or reduced pressure at every GP practice.

Limited Sleaford pharmacy opening on Bank Holiday Monday

What happened

Tesco Pharmacy at 65 Northgate, Sleaford, is listed to open for two hours on 31 August.

Why it mattered locally

The limited window matters for people needing urgent medicines, particularly residents without cars, carers and public-transport users.

  • It is the only Sleaford pharmacy shown on the county Bank Holiday list.
  • The NHS advises that opening times may change.
  • NHS 111 remains available continuously.
  • The listing does not guarantee medicine availability.
Claim or context at the time

Residents should check before travelling and arrange routine medication in advance.

What happened

Police are trying to identify a man walking a dog on Silver Street at about 10:15pm on 15 August. He is described as a possible witness.

Why it mattered locally

The targeted appeal may assist an active village burglary investigation.

  • The reported burglary involved an unoccupied property.
  • The property was unoccupied between 2:00pm and 10:15pm.
  • Information should quote reference 26000489468.

  • The force is seeking PIP2 investigators.
  • Relocation expenses of up to £8,000 may be available.

Fire-response engagement closes without a decision

What happened

Public engagement on Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue's proposed response model closed on 23 August.

Why it mattered locally

Under the proposal, Sleaford would retain seven-day daytime wholetime staffing and overnight on-call cover. Rural resilience would continue to depend heavily on on-call availability.

  • The proposal includes 20 additional wholetime firefighter posts.
  • Grantham would receive 24/7 wholetime cover.
  • Sleaford and six other stations would remain day-crewed with overnight on-call cover.
  • The 29 wholly on-call stations would remain unchanged.
  • No consultation analysis, recommendation or final decision has been published.
Claim or context at the time

Projected improvements in resilience are the fire service's case and remain untested until evidence and outcomes are published.

Farming, water & environment

Drought pressure continues without new Lincolnshire-level figures

What happened

The latest Environment Agency report says drought impacts include poor crop yields, reduced grass growth, agricultural boreholes drying up and critically low farm reservoirs in some locations.

Why it mattered locally

Lincolnshire's farming economy relies heavily on irrigation and secure water supplies. Restrictions may affect crops, livestock, farm finances and the environment.

  • Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire entered official drought status on 10 August.
  • More than 1,500 abstraction restrictions were operating across England.
  • Anglian Water's Temporary Use Ban remained in force when checked.
  • The report does not provide a Lincolnshire-only count of affected farms, boreholes, reservoirs or restrictions.
  • No newer Environment Agency weekly report was found by the morning of 28 August.
Claim or context at the time

National figures show wider pressure but must not be treated as Lincolnshire-specific totals. Effects vary by catchment, licence, crop and water source.
